2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to sell and deliver your order, look after you as a customer and run our website.
- Contact and delivery details: name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address.
- Order details: products bought, order value, delivery choice, returns and refunds.
- Payment details: payments are handled by our payment providers (section 6). We do not see or store your full card number.
- Account details: if you create an account, your login and saved addresses.
- Messages to us: what you write to us by email or contact form, including any photos you send.
- Marketing preferences: whether you agreed to receive our emails, and when.
- Website and device data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, items added to the basket, and how you arrived at our site (for example, from a Google or Bing advert). This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (section 5).
Information about your health. We do not ask for health information. If you tell us about a health condition or a reaction to a product, for example in a complaint, we use it only to deal with that matter, as described in section 3.
Age. Our shop is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Parents and carers may buy products intended for children, such as our children’s multivitamin.
3. How we use your information and why
UK law requires a lawful reason for each use of your information. The table shows what we do and the reason we rely on.
| What we do | Lawful reason |
|---|---|
| Take, process and deliver your order, handle cancellations, returns and refunds | Performing our contract with you |
| Send order, dispatch and delivery updates | Performing our contract with you |
| Answer your questions and complaints | Our legitimate interest in looking after customers |
| Prevent fraud and payment misuse, keep our website secure | Our legitimate interest in protecting customers and our business |
| Keep accounting and tax records | Legal obligation |
| Send marketing emails about our products and offers | Your consent, or our legitimate interest for existing customers (“soft opt-in”) |
| Show you our adverts on Google, Microsoft, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest services, including using your email address in encrypted form (section 4) | Your consent to marketing, or our legitimate interest for existing customers under the soft opt-in |
| Measure and improve our website and adverts | Our legitimate interest, or your consent where cookies require it (section 5) |
Soft opt-in. If you bought from us, we may email you about similar products unless you opted out at checkout. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
Health information you share with us
If you report a reaction to a product, we use what you tell us to handle your complaint, keep a record of product safety reports and deal with any legal claim. We rely on your explicit consent, and on the need to establish or defend legal claims. We do not use health information for marketing.
Health information you send without being asked
Our customer service handles orders and cannot give medical advice, and messages sent to us are not passed to Dr. Berg. Please do not send us details of your medical history, conditions, test results or medicines. If you do, we use them only to reply to you, advising you to speak to a healthcare professional. We do not use them for marketing or product recommendations, and we delete them within 6 months of closing your query, unless they form part of an adverse reaction report.
Emergencies. If a message to us suggests that someone’s life may be at risk, we may share that person’s name, address, phone number and the symptoms described with the emergency services, to protect their vital interests.
Legal basis: UK GDPR, Article 6 (lawful reasons), Article 9 (health information) and PECR, regulation 22 (marketing emails); Articles 6(1)(d) and 9(2)(c) (protecting someone’s life in an emergency).
4. Advertising and analytics
We advertise on Google (Search, Shopping and YouTube), Microsoft Bing, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok and Pinterest, and we measure how our website and adverts perform. We may use other advertising or social media platforms in future; before we do, we will update this policy and the cookie table below.
Advertising to our existing customers. If you receive marketing emails from us (because you agreed, or as an existing customer under the soft opt-in) and have not opted out, we may share your email address and phone number with Google, Microsoft, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest so they can show you our adverts (known as Customer Match, Custom Audiences or customer file audiences). Before it leaves our systems, this information is converted into an encrypted code (a “hash”). The platforms use it only to find a matching account, and delete unmatched codes. We do not share your order history or any health information this way. If you unsubscribe from our marketing, we remove you from these lists at the next update.
Website measurement and advertising cookies
With your consent, the tools below collect information about your visit:
| Tool | What it does | Provider |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Counts visits and shows how the website is used | |
| Google Ads | Measures which adverts lead to purchases; shows our adverts to past visitors | |
| Microsoft Advertising | Measures which Bing adverts lead to purchases | Microsoft |
| Meta Pixel | Measures which Facebook and Instagram adverts lead to purchases; shows our adverts to past visitors | Meta |
| TikTok Pixel | Measures which TikTok adverts lead to purchases; shows our adverts to past visitors | TikTok |
| Pinterest Tag | Measures which Pinterest adverts and pins lead to purchases; shows our adverts to past visitors | |
| Microsoft Clarity | Records anonymised clicks and scrolling so we can fix problems on our pages | Microsoft |
| Shopify | Runs our shop, basket and checkout | Shopify |
Clarity masks text you type, such as your name, address and card details, so it is not recorded.
Health-related advertising. Google, Microsoft, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest do not allow advertisers to target people based on health conditions, and we do not do so. Our adverts are about products, not about you.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any email, or write to us. This also removes you from our advertising audience lists.
- Change your cookie choices at any time through the cookie settings link at the bottom of our website.
- Manage the adverts you see: Google My Ad Center, Microsoft advertising settings, Meta ad preferences, the ad settings in your TikTok app and your Pinterest ad personalisation settings.
- Learn more: how Google uses information from sites that use its services, the Microsoft Privacy Statement, the Meta Privacy Policy, the TikTok Privacy Policy and the Pinterest Privacy Policy (policy.pinterest.com/privacy-policy).
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. When you first visit drberg.uk, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies.
| Type | Example | Your consent needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeping items in your basket, secure checkout, fraud prevention | No |
| Statistics and website appearance | Counting visits, remembering display settings | No, but you can opt out |
| Advertising and session recording | Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest pixels, Microsoft Clarity | Yes |
If you reject advertising cookies, our shop still works normally. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or by deleting cookies in your browser.
Legal basis: PECR, regulation 6, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
6. Who we share your information with
We share your information only with companies that help us run our business, and only what each one needs. They must keep it secure and may not use it for their own purposes, except where stated.
| Who | Why | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify | Hosts our shop, checkout and customer records | All order and account data |
| Payment providers: Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal and Revolut | Take and refund payments, prevent fraud | Payment and order details |
| Couriers: Royal Mail, DHL, DPD, Evri, InPost, FedEx and UPS (whichever delivers your order) | Deliver your order and send tracking updates | Name, address, phone, email |
| HighLevel | Sends our emails and customer service messages | Name, email, phone, order history |
| Google, Microsoft, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest | Advertising and measurement (section 4) | Encrypted contact details; website activity with your consent |
| Dr. Berg Nutritionals (The Health and Wellness Center, Inc., USA), the brand owner and supplier | Product complaints, safety reports and recalls; checks under our distribution agreement | Only the order and complaint details needed for the matter |
| Our accountants, lawyers and insurers | Professional advice, accounts and claims | Only what the matter requires |
| Police, HMRC, courts or regulators | Where the law requires it | Only what is lawfully requested |
| Emergency services (999) | Only if someone’s life may be at risk | Name, address, phone and the symptoms described |
Google, Microsoft, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, PayPal and Revolut also act as independent controllers for some of this processing, under their own privacy policies. Shopify uses some data to improve its services; see the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.
Marketplaces. If you buy our products through TikTok Shop or another online marketplace, that marketplace collects your order and payment details and passes us what we need to deliver and support your order. The marketplace acts as an independent controller under its own privacy policy, and we use the details we receive as described in this policy.
We share information with Dr. Berg Nutritionals only where product safety or our distribution agreement requires it, never for their own marketing. If our business is sold or restructured, customer records may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
7. Transfers, retention and security
Transfers outside the UK. Some of our providers, including Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, Google, Microsoft, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, HighLevel and Dr. Berg Nutritionals, store or access data outside the UK, for example in the United States, Canada or the EU. We use them only where the UK has recognised the destination as adequate (including the UK–US “data bridge”) or where the provider has signed the UK’s approved transfer contract terms.
How long we keep your information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Orders, invoices and refunds | 6 years from the end of the financial year, as UK tax law requires |
| Customer account | Until you ask us to close it, or 3 years after your last order |
| Marketing consent and email list | Until you unsubscribe; we keep a record of the opt-out so we do not contact you again |
| Customer service messages | 2 years after the matter is closed |
| Product complaints and reaction reports | 6 years after the matter is closed, in case of a legal claim |
| Health information sent without being asked | Deleted within 6 months of closing your query, unless part of an adverse reaction report |
| Website and advertising data | Up to 14 months in Google Analytics; as set by each provider |
Security. Our shop and checkout are encrypted (HTTPS). Payment card details are handled by our payment providers to industry security standards (PCI DSS) and never reach us. Access to customer records is limited to staff who need it. No system is completely secure; if a breach puts your information at risk, we will tell you and the ICO where the law requires.
8. Your rights and how to complain
You have the right to:
- access a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information, where we no longer need it or have no legal reason to keep it;
- restrict how we use it while a concern is checked;
- object to our use based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before;
- receive your data in a portable format, where we use it under a contract or your consent.
To use any of these rights, email support@drberg.uk with “Privacy” in the subject line. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We will reply within one month, and there is normally no charge.
Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you the outcome without undue delay. If you remain unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).
Legal basis: UK GDPR, Articles 15 to 21 (your rights); Data Protection Act 2018, section 164A (complaints), added by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email or on our website before it applies.
